Luxe Tail Grooming Policy

1. Arrival

For the safety of all pets and staff, dogs must arrive and leave the salon wearing a collar or harness and secured on a leash. Please do not remove the leash until your pet has been safely handed over to a groomer.

To help us maintain a clean and comfortable grooming environment, please make sure your dog has relieved themselves before arriving for their appointment.

If your pet has any health conditions, skin concerns, injuries, or behavioural issues, please inform us before the appointment. This includes conditions such as arthritis, epilepsy, diabetes, pancreatitis, previous knee surgery, skin irritation, or any signs of aggression toward people or other animals.

For the safety of our team and other pets, Luxe Tail reserves the right to refuse, pause, or stop grooming services if a pet shows aggressive behaviour or is unsafe to handle. In such cases, charges may apply for work already completed.

2. Appointment Timing & Pick-Up

Appointment drop-off times are confirmed at the time of booking. Pick-up times will be advised on the day once your pet’s grooming session is complete.

Grooming times may vary depending on coat condition, size, behaviour, age, and the type of service requested. Some pets may need to stay longer than expected if extra care, extra grooming time, or handling support is required.

We kindly ask that pets are collected promptly after you are notified.

3. Cancellation, Rescheduling, No-Show & Late Arrival

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know more than 24 hours in advance.

If cancellation or rescheduling is made within 24 hours of the appointment, a $50 deposit will be required at the time of your next booking.

If a client does not attend the appointment without notice, Luxe Tail reserves the right to decline future grooming bookings.

If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, a $15 late fee will apply, and the appointment will be changed to a basic wash and dry only.

In special circumstances, such as heavy rain or severe weather conditions, we are happy to assist with one complimentary reschedule.

4. Flea Policy

All pets should arrive on a current flea prevention program.

If fleas are found during your pet’s appointment, a mandatory $20 flea shampoo treatment fee will be added to the service. This treatment is required to protect the health and safety of other dogs in our salon.

Additional cleaning or treatment charges may apply if the infestation is severe.

5. Matted Coats & Knotted Fur

If your pet’s coat is heavily matted or knotted, Luxe Tail will always prioritise your pet’s comfort, safety, and welfare over extensive de-matting.

In severe cases, shaving may be necessary. Please be aware that this may reveal pre-existing skin issues, such as redness, irritation, sores, or abrasions, and may sometimes cause temporary sensitivity or itchiness after grooming.

By proceeding with grooming services, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with shaving or removing severe matting. Additional charges may apply depending on the extent of the matting and the extra time required.

6. After Grooming Care

Grooming can be physically and emotionally tiring for some pets. After their appointment, your pet may feel sleepy, quiet, or want extra rest, food, or water. This is normal, especially for puppies, senior pets, or anxious pets.

Some pets may also show temporary licking, scratching, or mild sensitivity after grooming, especially after close clipping or specialised services. If symptoms seem excessive or ongoing, we recommend seeking veterinary advice.

For long-haired dogs, we recommend regular grooming every 4–6 weeks to maintain coat health and prevent matting. Regular brushing and combing at home is also important between appointments.

7. Special Care Acknowledgements
Ear Plucking

For dogs that are not used to regular ear hair removal, temporary redness, sensitivity, scratching, or mild irritation may occur after ear plucking. This can be a normal reaction.

Poodle Feet

For dogs that have not previously had poodle feet, temporary licking, sensitivity, or mild irritation may occur after the feet are closely shaved. This can also be a normal reaction.

By proceeding with these services, the owner acknowledges and accepts that mild temporary sensitivity may occur.

8. Pricing & Additional Charges

All grooming prices at Luxe Tail are starting prices only. Final charges may vary depending on your pet’s size, coat condition, coat density, behaviour, service type, and grooming time required.

Additional charges may apply for:

severe matting or coat recovery work
flea treatment
extra handling support
extended grooming time
add-on trimming or specialised styling services

9. Final Reminder

We kindly ask all clients to arrive on time, communicate any changes early, and collect pets promptly once notified.

Thank you for supporting Luxe Tail and trusting us to care for your pet.
